Bat for Lashes - “All Your Gold”
I love how this starts out so minimalistic with tribal drumming and a staccato bass line, but slowly evolves into sweeping strings and Natasha Khan laying her pain out for us all to hear.
I remember hearing this for the first time and feeling such a complex mix of emotions - sadness, anger, confusion, courage, hope. With this song, Khan wants you to experience just that through her personal reflections - she’s exercising our emotions and, more importantly, allowing us to dance them away.
